Web design for the future

A new year is approaching. End-of-year lists with overviews of 2015 are already appearing in abundance, the lists about trends for 2016 will follow. We do not want to remain idle. So let’s talk about some important developments in the field of web design. Because you know: we are a  web design agency in Antwerp  with great expertise. And we like to share that knowledge.
Mobile

We don’t have to dwell on that for long

I hope. Is there anyone left who is not convinced of a We provide you good diversity, precise and quality data that will help you connect to your target audience in a strategic manner. Ultimately, we aim to bring shop your business success and where error does not have a place in the database. Also our db gets refreshed every week. We dont have databases from list websites but we do have a database or volume type with high resolution. well-functioning mobile website? Not because of  mobilegeddon -like doom-mongering. It is simply the reality that a large part of the visitors of a website already surf mobile. And that that share will only grow.

Is your website not mobile-friendly yet?

Conversions
A website has become an instrument for many companies. It is no longer just a business card. Okay, a site is ideal for showing off your portfolio. But even then, you want people to fill out that contact form or pick up the phone after viewing your achievements. And then intelligent placement of that telephone number and contact form is very important. Websites are now a communication channel to bind customers to you, to bring in new customers or leads. That makes it a fully-fledged sales channel. In Belgium, too, we are now happily buying online (we were somewhat behind the countries around us).

Design and functionality are therefore increasingly intertwined

This is called conversion optimization  : continuing to tinker with your pages and web design to achieve better results. For an e-commerce website, a web design decision will no longer be made solely on the basis of ‘beautiful or not beautiful’, but on the basis of the impact on sales.

The fold

Is that fold and/or content above or below it important or not?

As we increasingly swipe through pages on mobile devices, and also thanks to the trend of one-pagers in recent years, we find the need to scroll quite acceptable.

This also allows us to give pages a bit more space, to build in some peace. This is a very pleasant, user-friendly trend. You no longer have to fill up the space ‘above the fold’ with everything you want to get rid of: menus, sliders, text, call to actions… You can take your time and space for it again. The location of your contact form no longer matters that much. If your (landing) page is well-constructed, a contact form or  call to action at the bottom of a page will  also convert well.

And what about SEO?

Since 2012, there hasn’t really been much news about the ‘ page layout algorithm ‘, where content ‘above the fold’ became an important element.

Should we then assume that Google still favors websites with a lot of content above the fold? To be honest, we think that delivering a good ‘user experience’ is more important than placing as much content as possible above the fold. And what is a good user experience? If you search for, say, ‘electric coffee machines’, you end up on a page that immediately makes it clear that it is about ‘electric coffee machine’. That is attractively constructed, so that you start reading that page. So that should definitely happen above the fold. But you can safely continue your story below the fold. In this way, you even create more interaction with the visitor so that he does not immediately click ‘back’ to the results page (bounce). Also a good signal to Google that people apparently appreciate your page.

Material design

Flat design is dead. Material design is in. Material design was invented by buy job function email list Google as a sort of guideline for the design of all their websites and apps. If you want to delve into it,  Google has an extensive description .

It comes down to the fact that the surfaces from the flat design get a suggestion of depth again. Which gives you a more tactile design. Not coincidentally because we swipe and click more via touchscreens. But fortunately no 3D buttons like in the past. It remains more subtle. By using color, position and light shadows well, you make elements in your design more ‘material’.

Color and fonts

Color and design may well stand out. We found this post about good and  agb directory striking use of color . But ‘les gouts et le couleurs ne se debatent pas’ as they say. Unique colors and bold use are ‘in’. But make sure your audience is on board.

Nowadays, you can also indulge yourself in typography to your heart’s content. In addition, there are more and more fonts available for online use, such as  Google fonts.
Be careful. Be unique and stand out, but do it in style. You don’t want to end up with a coloring book or a ‘ man magazine ‘. That doesn’t give the right look. So hire a good web designer to find the right balance.

A professional web design

We would like to emphasize that last point again. Get help from someone who knows something about it. ( Motionmill for example  ?) Anyone can make ‘a’ website these days. There are countless (free) tools for that. On the other hand, it has become much more difficult to make a ‘good’, ‘effective’ website. A web design that conveys your values and style, a website that is found in search engines, that ensures that visitors also become customers. An instrument with a whole online marketing story behind it. And that is also designed and optimized with your objectives in mind. So that your website really contributes to the development of your company.
